Mini Cinnamon Rolls

August 12, 2010

I made my friend Maria’s  BBQ chicken pizza again last night and the crust makes enough for 2 pizzas, since I didn’t want 2 pizzas I thought “oh make mini cinny’s”.  We love cinnamon rolls in this house so I knew I was making the right choice.  The next time you make some pizza you might want to make some of these babies for dessert your family will love it.

Maria’s Pizza Dough Recipe:

2 cups warm water
2 tsp yeast
1-1/2 tsp salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil
4-5 cups flour
Pour water into a bowl and sprinkle with yeast. Let sit for a few minutes. Add salt, sugar and oil, stir. Add flour and mix on low with a dough hook or stir by hand until dough doesn’t stick to sides. Add a little more flour if necessary but try not to exceed 5 1/2 cups of flour.
For making the mini cinnamon rolls divide the dough in half.  One for pizza, one for the cinny’s.  Now divide the dough for the cinny’s in half again.  Roll out on about 14 in long and 3 in wide.Getting the filling ready
1/8 cup of flour
1/4 cup of  melted butter
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 T. cinnamon
Mix all ingredients together and spread on top of the dough.  Roll dough long ways so all the brown sugar mixture is sealed inside.  Cut the dough with dental floss about 2 inches wide per roll.  Spray 9 in round pan  with cooking spray and put your rolls in.Bake in 350 degree oven and bake for 15 min.  Cool for 10 min. turn out onto plate and let cool completely if you can.  Make glaze by using 3/4 cup of powdered sugar mixed with 4 tsp. of milk.  Drizzle on top and enjoy!

    • Thanks Natasha, If you want to try out making them but are afraid of making dough use crescent rolls or French bread dough in the refrigerator section of the grocery store. Hope that helps 🙂

  3. What a fabulous idea!! You had me at the picture!! Yum!! Save me a few!!

  4. What a great idea to use the extra dough for cinnamon rolls! I will have to do that next time. They looks so tasty!!!

  5. What a great idea! I’d be very popular indeed in our house if I made homemade pizza dough one night and those scrumptious cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next! Thanks for sharing a great idea and your delicious recipes.

Those look sinfully yummy! I’m curious about the pizza dough… how long do you let it rise before rolling out? I have a quick rise recipe that uses more yeast but rises for about 10 minutes. It also uses more oil, which I’d love to be able to cut down on.

    • I made the dough first then let it rise while I got the rest of the pizza ingredients ready. Maybe 1/2 hour until I got to the rolls, not long.

  7. What a great used for left over pizza dough.

  8. This looks really good. I love the presentation. And there’s nothing better than a good cinnamon roll, is there?

  9. Well now, this is a cute variation on cinnamon rolls. Happy FF.
